Birstal Starwing edged the leader Olympic Fribourg by 92-85 on Sunday, in the Swiss League big match of week 9. Now the two teams are sharing the first place with 7-1 records. The hosts led the game with slim margins, 40-35 at halftime. Then, led by 21 points of Ivan Brosko and 18 posted by Jarred McCurry, managed the game in the second half. Brandon Polk nailed 18 points for Olympic and Dave Esterkamp netted 16. Lugano Tigers climbed to the second place by beating away 79-93 Lausanne Morges, thanks to an amazing 15-26 run in the second quarter, behind 52 points produced by dynamic-duo Draughan-Crnogorac. BC Boncourt topped 79-56 Sion Herens, leading by 38-32 at halftime, they exploded with a 16-0 partial back from the lockers, led by 19 points chipped in by Iversen and 15 netted by Block. The Geneva Devils outlasted 95-82 Meyrin Grand Sacconex, while Vevey Riviera conquered their first success of the season by edging 71-67 BBC Nyon as Herman Alston was their scoring leader with 29 points.
