Portuguese League, Game 7: November 25-26, 2006
The seventh round of the Portuguese League went by with no big sursprises except for the second win of Queluz Sintra, this time on the road, against Belenenses by a clear 78-96. Up to six players scored in double digits for Queluz, as Ike Nwankwo had 22 for the winners. Earl Brown and Jamie Kendrick had 19 apiece, Carlos Seixas posted 14, Joao Manuel 12 and Kalu Guasco, the only of the six not to be in the starting five, netted 10. For Belenenses, Cameron Echols led the way with 18 points. A starting 18-27 made things easier for Queluz, who now has a 2-7 record while Belenenses drops to 2-4. Porto had no problems to defeat Ginasio on the road by 59-81 thanks to 22 points by John Whorton, and Nuno Marcal added 18. Porto is now second with a 5-1 record while Ginasio is still last with a 1-5. Ovarense remained the Portuguese League leader thanks to a new home win over CAB Madeira by 77-71 to stay perfect atop the standings with a 6-0. Gregory Stempin led all scorers with 28 points and Rui Mota added 19. In the last game of the weekend, Lusitania took a valuable road win at Berreirense by 78-83 behind 17 points from Jim Clement, to improve to 3-3.
