Spirou Charleroi took the big showdown in the Belgian League and is thenew exclusive leader atop the standings at 11-4 by thrashing Sanex Antwerp G 74-58 in the Spiroudome on Saturday. Corey Brewer led the winners with 19 points while Len Matela had 18 for Antwerp, which dropped to 10-5. Charleroi led 35-29 at halftime but Brewer had 12 points in the third quarter to make the hosts seal the win, 74-58, at the end of the third quarter. Dexia Mons-Hainaut now ties for the second place ar 10-5 by downing Okapi Aalstar 91-75 at home. Kevin Houston led the winners with 25 points on 5 of 8 three-pointers while George Evans added 18 for Mons. Both teams were tied at 64-64 early in the final period, but Houston and Shawnta Rogers shined in crunch time to make Mons add a well-deserved win. Telindus Oostende improved to 9-6 by defeating Liege Basket 94-74 at home. Guy Muya led the way with 27 points, Eric Hicks added 19, Rashad Wright had 17, Lavor Postell 14 while Elvir Ovcina grabbed 16 rebounds in an easy home win for Oostende, which trailed 49-50 midway through the third quarter. Muya and Hicks allowed Oostende to recover and seal the win, 81-64, with 5 minutes to go. In other games, Euphony Bree beat Royal Atomia Brussels 85-77 while Verviers-Pepinster topped Basket Gr Leuven 78-72.
