Ovarense Aerosoles returned to action this week by beating Casino Figueira Ginasio 78-84 to stay atop the standings with a 9-1 record. Cordell Henry led the winners with 26 points while Gregory Stempin added 25 and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Jesse Smith had 17 points for Ginasio, which led 63-59 after 30 minutes. Stempin and Ben Reed fueled a 2-14 run which gave Ovarense a 65-73 edge with under 3 minutes to go, enough to add another win. Benfica stayed second at 8-3 by edging Queluz 59-62 on the road behind 17 points from Corey Benjamin. The guests led 47-53 after three quarters and held off a Queluz rally to win the game. Lusitania Angra PM provided the biggest surprise in this round by downing Porto Ferpinta 70-77 on the road. Lusitania improved to 6-5 while Porto dropped to 7-3. Willie Taylor led Lustiania with 23 points while Nuno Marcal had 24 for Porto, which got its last lead at 54-52 late in the third quarter. Jim Clement and Taylor shined in the final period to make Lusitania seal the upset. In the other game played in this round, Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor edged Barreirense 86-82 behind 30 points and 13 rebounds from Cameron Echols.
