British League, Week 13: December 14-17, 2006
The Guildford Heat keep leading the British Championship with a 11-1 record by registering back-to-back wins this week. The Heat downed the Newcastle Eagles 66-85 on the road on Friday behind 16 points from Dan Wardrope. Player/coach Fabulous Flournoy had 19 points for the Eagles. The Heat completed a perfect week with a 89-74 home win against the Scottish Rocks. Daniel Gilbert led the way with 22 points while Brian Dux added 19 for the Eagles, which broke the game in the final period to add its 11th win. The Rocks had thrashed the Worcester Wolves 62-93 behind 27 points from Rob Yanders. In other British championship games, the Plymouth Raiders beat London United 82-74 on Wednesday but got a 88-86 road loss against the Milton Keynes Lions to drop to 10-4 in the standings. The Eagles beat London United 74-75 on Saturday. In the British Trophy, the Sharks needed overtime to edge the Chester Jets 93-88 behind 25 points from Blake Shelton, the Leicester Riders beat the Lions 94-83 on Saturday while the Wolves defeated the Jets 85-92 on Sunday.
