German League, Game 15: December 26-30, 2006
Sharrod Ford - Alba Berlin There was a change atop the German League standings right before the end of year 2006, as Alba Berlin is once agin the exclusive leader with a 12-2 record by edging the Deutsche Bank Skyliners 82-86 on the road on Saturday. Sharrod Ford paced the winners with 19 points on 8-of-10 two-pointers and 11 rebounds. Julius Jenkins added 18 points, Chris Owens had 17 and 13 rebounds for another double-double while Koko Archibong scored 10 points for Alba. Eric Chatfield had 20 points to lead the Skyliners, who were outrebounded by 26-55. Alba led 19-26 after 10 minutes and managed to keep a slim margin all the way. The Skyliners did not give up and got within 82-85, but Jenkins sealed the win with a free throw. RheinEnergie dropped to 11-3 and is third in the league board due to a 70-76 road loss against the Artland Dragons. Newcomer Devin Green had 23 points for RheinEnergie while Demond Mallet and Marcin Gortat each added 12. Filiberto Rivera had 24 points for the Dragons, who used a 9-23 run in the second quarter to get full control of the game for good. EnBW Ludwigsburg dropped to 12-3 due to a 76-87 home loss against Bayer Giants Leverkusen. In other games, Sellbytel Baskets Nurnberg edged the Giessen 46ers 68-67, Eisbaren Bremerhaven topped Paderborn Baskets 75-77 in overtime, EWE Baskets Oldenburg downed Walter Tigers Tubingen 92-73, Ratiopharm Ulm beat TBB Trier 85-82 while Telekom Baskets Bonn downed New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig 66-73. Brose Baskets postponed its home game against BG Karlsruhe to February 14.
