Lithuanian League, Game 9: January 13-14, 2007
Tanoka Beard - Zalgiris Neptunas provided the biggest upset in the Lithuanian League so far this season by edging mighty Lietuvos Rytas 78-72 in Klaipeda on Saturday. Neptunas improved to 5-4 while Rytas now shares the top spot with archrivals Zalgiris Kaunas, both with a 8-1 record. Michail Anisimov paced the winners with 25 points while Ronald Dorsey added 24. Arturas Jomantas had 15 points for Rytas, Kareem Rush added 12 and Mindaugas Lukauskis 10. Rytas rallied in the final period to tie the game at 72-72, but a final 6-0 run allowed Neptunas to seal an incredible win. Zalgiris made the most out of this opportunity and now shares the top spot in the standings by beating Nevezis 72-82 on the road. Tanoka Beard paced the winners with 16 points while Hanno Mottola added 15 for Zalgiris, which led 32-47 at halftime and kept a safe margin all the way. In other games on Friday, Siauliai beat Panevezys 90-81 behind 24 points from Tadas Klimavicius, Nevezis topped Atletas 94-82 with 26 points from Zydrunas Stankus while Sakalai bested Suduva 76-68 behind 28 points from Aidas Viskontas.
