Swans Gmunden outlasted Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg 77-97 on the road and benefited from a Kapfenberg Bulls defeat to open up a two-win lead over the second place teams in the Austrian League. The defending champion Swans improved to 16-2 after outscoring the Dukes 21-34 in the third period. Deteri Mayes led the way with 30 points. Kapfenberg suffered a 82-73 defeat at Arkadia Traiskirchen. The hosts exploded with an impressive 29-9 run in the first quarter and maintained a safe margin until the final buzzer, despite the Bulls surging 9-23 in the final quarter. Stjepan Stazic was the hero for Traiskirchen with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Raiffeisen Furstenfled climbed into a tie for second place with Kapfenberg by topping Gussing Knights on the road 72-90 behind 21 points from Trevor Gaines. Stefan Kerschbaummayer scored 22 to lead Basketball St. Polten over Basket Clubs of Vienna 77-70. Flagan Prince had 21 points to help Kraftwerk Wels beat Worthersee Piraten 80-62. In Monday's game, Jason Johnson amassed 26 points and 12 boards for Macabido Gunners Oberwart in a 78-86 road win over VIVA 49ers.
