British League, Week 17: January 19-21, 2007
Sheffield Sharks defeated league-leading Poujoulat Heat Guildford 71-62 on Friday night, but missed a chance to move into first place when it lost to last place Worcester Wolves 70-65 on Saturday. The Sharks, now at 13-6 in the standings, have the same amount of wins as the Heat, but three more losses. Eddie Cage posted 19 points and 14 rebounds for Sheffield against the Heat and had a game-high 22 in defeat against Worcester. Tom Perkes led Wolves with 20. Newcastle Eagles beat London United 89-68 on Friday and then topped Scottish Rocks 70-84 on Sunday to join Sheffield in second place. London bounced back to edge DMU Leicester Riders 86-85 on Saturday behind a 33-point performance by Tarik Johnson. In Saturday's other game, Tony Windless scored 21 to lead Milton Keynes Lions past Kularoos Plymouth Raiders 75-86. Kularoos Plymouth Raiders wrapped up the weekend's action by blasting Worcester Wolves 121-72 behind 28 points by bug man Carlton Aaron.
