Greek League, Game 14: January 20-21, 2007
Christos Tapoutos AEK Panathinaikos opened up a two-win lead atop the Greek League standings with a big 60-96 win over second place Aris TT Bank at a sold-out Alexandrion Melathron in Thessaloniki over the weekend. The defending champs now stand at 13-1, while Aris slipped into a tie with Olympiacos for second with 11-3 records. The Reds got there by crushing AE Larissa 90-61 at Peace and Friendship Stadium. PAOK escaped from Egaleo with a 65-71 road win thanks to 20 points from Vlado Scepanovic. AEK fell at home 85-92 to Panellinios despite 24 points from Christos Tapoutos. Panionios crushed Makedonikos 89-59 led by Kennedy Winston with 31 points, while Nikos Angelopoulos added 15 and Vladimir Dragojlovic 14. In other games, Olympia Larissa beat Maroussi 80-74 behind 20 points from Mat Walsh, while Olympiada took the Patras derby against Apollon 90-63 as Derrick Dial scored 21, Lewis Sims 20 and Steve Burtt 18.

Panathinaikos used a magnificent 15-2 rally at the end of the second quarter to transform a slight 33-34 lead to a huge 35-49 advantage by halftime. The Greens made 13 triples, finished 11 fastbreaks in as many attempts and shot 64% on two-poiters, compared to Aris's 29%. Sani Becirovic led all scorers with 20 points for Panathinaikos, Tony Delk followed with 19 and Ramunas Siskauskas had 14. Dimitris Diamantidis posted 7 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and 4 rebounds. For Aris, only Simonas Serapinas reached double figures scoring 10 points, while Alex Scales settled for just 1 point and Terrell Castle finished with 6.

Olympiacos returned to its usual good form by easily beating AE Larissa 91-60. Alex Acker had 15 points, Scoonie Penn added 13, Giannis Bouroussis 12 and 9 rebounds, Panagiotis Vassilopoulos scored 11 and Ryan Stack contributed 10. For Larissa, three players had 12 points each: Arthur Lee, Nikos Papanikolopoulos and Hector Romero. PAOK escaped from Egaleo with a 65-71 road win thanks to 20 points from Vlado Scepanovic and 17 from Giannis Kalampokis. Egaleo was led as usual by Keidren Clarke’s 24 points and Rashad Anderson's 16. AEK fell 85-92 at home to Panellinios despite 24 points coming from Christos Tapoutos, 18 from Nestoras Kommatos and 16 from Brend Scott. Michalis Pelekanos scored 24 for Panellinios, while Nikos Argyropoulos added 19 and Sotiris Karapostolou 14.
