Polish League, Game 16: January 19-21, 2007
Donatas Slanina - Prokom Trefl There were no changes atop the Polish League standings over the weekend as the top three teams all won their Matchday 16 games. Co-leaders Prokom Trefl Sopot and Turow Zgorzelec both improved to 13-3 with away wins at AYS Koszalin 59-81 and Anwil Wloclawek 73-74, respectively. Asco Slask Wroclaw remained one win out of first following a 72-64 home decision over Czarni Slupsk. Kager Gdynia remained in the top half of the standings by beating Sokolow Znicz Jaroslaw 86-78 behind 20 points and 6 assists from Courtney Eldridge. Twelve players finished in double figures at Ostrow, where Gipar Stal beat Polpharma Starogard Gdanski 109-98. Wojciech Szawarski scored 24 for hosts, while Ivo Kitzinger and Greg Harrington both finished with 19 for Polpharma. Polpak Swiecie was trailing by 5 against Kotwica Kolobrzeg at the half, but limited the guests to just 17 second-half points and won 77-57. Haris Nana had 18 points and 11 rebounds for Polpak, while Rafal Bigus finished with 17 and 7 for the guests.

Donatas Slanina had 16 points – including four triples – to lead Prokom to an easy 59-81 decision at AZS Koszalin. The Polish champions controlled the game from the beginning, but escaped for good in the third quarter with a 9-24 run. Tomas Masiulis added 13 and Christian Dalmau 11. Chris Hunter had 12 points and 11 rebounds for AZS. Anwil Wloclawek trailed against Turow for almost the entire game, but came back and took the lead with under three minutes remaining. Despite having two key players, Andres Rodriguez and Dragisa Drobnjak, foul out, the guests were still able to respond. In the last minute, Turow made just one of four shots from the line, but it was enough. On the final possession Goran Jagodnik missed a jumper at the buyer and Turow beat Anwil for the first time in franchise history. Thomas Kelati led winners with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Otis Hill had 19 and 7 for Anwil, which dropped to the 9th place.

Asco Slask Wroclaw overcame Czarni Slupsk 72-64 thanks to Dean Oliver, who scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half and finished with 7 assists to lead the hosts. Oliver Stevic added 8 points and 14 rebounds. Aleksander Kudriawcew and Darrel Tucker both had 14 for Czarni. Kager Gdynia defeated Sokolow Znicz Jaroslaw 86-78 behind 20 points and 6 assists from Courtney Eldridge and 17 points and 12 rebounds from Aaron Pettway Jacek Sulowski had 19 points for Unia. 12 players finished in double figures at Ostrow, where Gipar Stal beat Polpharma Starogard Gdanski 109-98.
