Bulgarian League, Game 18: January 24, 2007
Todor Stoykov - Lukoil Lukoil Academic Sofia held on for first place at the end of the first phase of the regular season in the Bulgarian League with a 69-95 road win at Yambol. Academic finished with a 17-1 record, the same as CSKA Sofia, but took first place thanks to a tiebreaker. The teams will already meet on Friday, February 2, in the opening game of the second round-robin phase. Todor Stoykov scored 23 and Donta Smith had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Academic. Georgi Davidov added 16 on 5-of-10 shooting, Lamont Jones scored 11 and dished 9 assists and Gjorgji Cekovski tallied 10 points in 17 minutes. Ninoslav Tmuzic paced Yambol with 24 points and 14 rebounds. CSKA thrashed Rilski Sportist 74-108 on the road behind 17 points from Greg Danielson. Brad Traina added 15 and Jordan Bozov 14. Levski earned third place with an 11-7 record after a 65-117 win over Spartak MVR with seven players scoring in double figures led by 17 apiece from Stanislav Slaveykov and Veselin Veselinov. In other games, Spartak Pleven crushed Dunav 106-61 and Balkan topped Cherno More IG 86-77.
