Turkish League, Game 18: February 7, 2007
Mirsad Turkcan - Fenerbahce Ulker Nothing changed atop the Turkish League standings, as Turk Telekom keeps leading the standings with a 17-1 record with Efes Pilsen and Fenerbahce Ulker right behind at 16-2. Efes Pilsen had to battle harder than expected to edge Multu Aku Selcuk Universitesi 86-88 on the road on Wednesday. Kerem Gonlum paced the winners with 27 points, Drew Nicholas added 15 while Cenk Akyol and Ermal Kuqo each had 13 for Efes. Brian Boddicker had 24 points for the hosts, but he fouled out with 2 minutes to go and Efes managed to escape with a win. Fenerbahce Ulker had less troubles to thrash Oyak Renault 55-79 on the road also on Wednesday. Mirsad Turkcan led the way for Fenerbahce with 22 points, Oguz Savas added 14, Hakan Demirel had 11 and Omer Onan 10 for the winners. Fenerbahce led 29-41 at halftime and boosted its margin to 36-67 after 30 minutes, enough to seal the outcome. Turk Telekom beat Casa Ted Kolej 93-77 behind 21 points from Jan Jagla. Meanwhile, Besiktas JK ColaTurka dropped to 12-6 due to a 65-75 home loss against Tofas. Brian Morrison led Tofas with 21 points. Jamel Thomas had 15 points for Besiktas, Donnell Harvey added 13 and Baris Guney 10. Besiktas trailed 44-51 after three quarter and did not manage to recover. In other games, Alpella beat Tekel 72-62, Darussafaka downed Pinar Karsiyaka 72-64, Galatasaray Cafe Crown edged Mersin BSB 75-71 while Beykoz topped Banvit 72-68.
