Lithuanian Federation Cup final four: February 6-7, 2007

Tumaloviciaus With its first shot at a trophy this season, Zalgiris took full advantage by rolling to the Lithuanian Federation Cup title with victories on Monday and Tuesday in Klaipeda. In the semifinals on Monday, Zalgiris easily beat Siauliai 102-71 with four double-figure scorers: Tanoka Beard 16, Paulius Jankunas 15, Jonas Maciulis 14 and Mantas Kalnietis 13.In the other semifinal, Lietuvos Rytas had it just as easy, dominating Nevezis 107-71 asMindaugas Lukauskis scored 22points and Janis Blums 20. In the final game against archrival Lietuvos Rytas, Zalgiris took a commanding lead of 44-32 after 20 minutes and kept expanding on it. After three quaters, the result was 69-47. The last quater did not change the outcome of the game. Zalgiris cruised to its first trophy of the season by a final score of 84-65.Beard again led the way with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Maciulis added 13 points, Marcelo Machado and Jankunas 12 each, DeJuan Collins 11.The high scorers for L.Rytas were Joao Batista with 21, Kareer Rush with 14 and Andrius Slezas with 10. Beard was named MVP of the Final Four and Maciulis MVP of the title game.
