Serbian National Cup, Quarterfinals: February 8-9, 2007
Djordje Micic - FMP There were no surprises during the quarterfinals of Serbian Radivoj Korac Cup Final 8 in Kragujevac on Thursday and Friday. The only Euroleague team and all three ULEB Cup teams advanced easily to the semifinals on Saturady, each winning their semifinal game by at least 18 points. Euroleague Top 16 qualifier Partizan cruised past Radnicki 108-75 in the first game as Nikola Pekovic led six Partizan scorers in double figures with 15. Kosta Perovic and Milenko Tepic added 14 each, Uros Tripkovic had 11 and Predrag Drobnjak and Vonteego Cummings posted 10 apiece. Center Nikola Glisovic scored 20 and Radovan Pesic added 15 for Radnicki. Hemofarm outlasted Mega Ishrana 97-79 in the nightcap. Predrag Suput paced Hemofarm with 27 points, many of which came in a big fourth quarter that his team took 34-18. Milos Borisov added 21, Aleksei Nesovic 16 and Milan Rakic 12. Milovan Rakovic led Mega Ishrana with 22, Milivoj Bozovic added 19 and Miladin Pekovic 17. Hemofarm and Partizan will meet on Saturday in the semifinals. On Friday, it was much the same story. FMP had no trouble taking care of Novi Sad as it rolled up a 95-67 quarterfinals victory in which 9 players scored 6 points or more. FMP won ech quarter by at least 6 points, as well, and was never really threatened. Branko Cvetkovic 13 points, Bojan Krstovic 18 and Djordje Micic 13. Crvena Zvezda had it almost as easy with an 86-63 decision against Vojvodina. After winning the first quarter 18-17, C. Zvezda exploded for 33 points in the second to take a 51-33 halftime lead and never look back. ULEB Cup regular season MVP Milan Gurovic fired in 26 points for the winners, while Petar Popovic contributed 10. FMP and C. Zvezda will meet in the other semifinal.
