Sandro Nicevic scored 6 points as Le Mans used a 2-14 run to close out the second period and take a 34-53 halftime lead. Strasbourg, playing its first game without injured point guard Lonnie Cooper, never got closer than 13 the rest of the way. Nicevic, Alain Koffi and Nicolas Batum scored 12 apiece for Le Mans, Yannick Bokolo added 11 and Kenny Gregory finished with 10. Chuck Eidson led Strasbourg with 23, Claude Marquis added 15 and Gauthier Darrigand had 14 in defeat. In a back-and-forth encounter, Nancy outlasted Orleans 84-78. Nancy led by 8 after 10 minutes, but Orleans stormed back in the second period through defense, holding Nancy to just 11 points as it built a 34-44 halftime advantage. Branko Milisavljevic scored 9 points during the third quarter as Nancy took a narrow lead. Terrence Dials tied the game at 65-65 in the fourth, but Cedrick Banks scored 7 during a 9-0 run that sent Nancy ahead for good. Banks led the way with 21 and Milisavljevic scored 19, while Maxime Zianveni dominated inside with 15 points and 15 rebounds and Cyril Julian posted 14 points. Jermaine Boyette led Orleans with 24 points and Dials had 22 points and 8 rebounds in defeat.
In the first quarterfinal on Friday, Roanne rolled to a 98-85 victory over Dijon. Marc Salyers poured in 29 points and Aaron Harper 23 to lead the winners. For Dijon, Abdoulaye Mbaye led five double-figure scorers with 19 points. The last quarterfinal saw Asvel Villeurbanne outlasted Chalon 76-78 in a game that couldn't have been closer: 17-15 after one quarter, 32-31 at halftime and 49-49 going into the last 10 minutes.
