Lithuanian League, Game 11: February 9-10, 2007
Matthew Nielsen Lietuvos Rytas Archrivals Zalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos Rytas keep tying atop the Lithuanian League standings, each with a 10-1 record. Zalgiris did not find much trouble to beat Siauliai 56-74 on the road on Saturday. Tanoka Beard paced the winners with 16 points while Paulius Jankunas added 12 for Zalgiris, whose defense limited its opponent to 11-of-33 two-pointers and 7-of-24 from downtown. Zalgiris led 15-25 after 10 minutes and managed to keep a safe lead all the way by powering the boards and looking for its big men inside. L.Rytas also improved to 10-1 by thrashing Nevezis 90-59 also on Saturday. Matt Nielsen led L.Rytas with 16 points, Kareem Rush had 15, Andrius Slezas and Ivan Koljevic each added 12 while Martynas Gecevicius tallied 10 for L.Rytas, that led 43-21 at halftime and cruised to yet another home win. In other games, Nevezis beat Panevezys 87-68 on Saturday while Neptunas downed Suduva 79-65.
