Slovenian National Cup semifinals: February 10, 2007
Goran Jurak - Union Olimpija The stage was set for the Slovenian Cup final on Saturday as last year's winner, Union Olimpija Ljubljana, and Helios Domzale recorded big wins in the semifinals. Olimpija bounced Alpos Sentjur 85-66, while Helios dumped Krka Novo Mesto 85-59 in a double-header played in the Slovenian capital. Olimpija made quick work of Sentjur, building a 45-26 lead by halftime and extending it to 68-36 after 30 minutes before easing up in the final period. Goran Jurak led the way for the Slovenian champs with 15 points in less than 18 minutes. Domen Lorbek added 12, Sandi Cebular 11 and Manu Markoishvili 10 for Olimpija. Elvis Kadic and Jimmie Lee Hunt scored 18 apiece for Sentjur. Helios trailed 43-45 at halftime, but turned up the defensive intensity in the second half, holding Krka to just 7 points in each of the last two periods to cruise to victory. Smiljan Pavic scored 14 and Aleksej Lashkevich 12 to lead Helios, which had lost in the cup semifinals in each of the past two seasons. Igor Jokic led Novo Mesto with 17.
