Portuguese League Game 23: February 10, 2007
Ovarense Aerosoles kept its one-win lead over Sport Lisboa e Benfica atop the Portuguese League with an 82-75 win over visiting Queluz Sintra Patrimonio Mundial on Saturday. Gregory Stempin scored 21 and grabbed 12 rebounds and Elvis Evora added 18 points for Ovarense, which improved to 19-2 in the standings. Jamie Kendrick had 19 points for Queluz in defeat. Benfica raced out to a 22-5 start on the way to a 77-67 win over CAB Madeira. Ashante Johnson had 28 points and 9 rebounds and Patrick Sparks scored 18 for the winners, while Filipe da Silva came off the bench to lead CAB with 18. Meanwhile, Futebol Clube do Porto Ferpinta needed overtime to top Barreirense 70-75 behind 17 from Larry Jon Smith and last-placed Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor edged Casino Figueira Ginasio 68-70 thanks to 21 points from Jason Robinson. Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial enjoyed a bye-week.
