Polish National Cup: February 9-11, 2007
Andrew Pluta - Anwil Anwil Wloclawek is the Polish Cup winner! Anwil picked up three victories in as many days, capped by a 72-66 decision over Polish champion Prokom Trefl Sopot in the final on Sunday. The game was played in Sopot, but Anwil controlled the game from the beginning. The visiting side took a double-digit advantage early in the first quarter by playing much better on offense. The second half was dominated by defense by both sides and in the fourth quarter, Prokom kept Anwil without a basket for over four minutes. But guests survived thanks to important points from Chris Thomas and Otis Hill. Hill led all scorers with 18 points, Andrzej Pluta added 15, Gatis Jahovics 12 and Thomas 10. All 10 of Prokom’s players that played also scored, but only one of them, Donatas Slanina, reached double figures with 14 points. Prokom was outrebounded 25-33 and committed 16 turnovers.

Earlier Prokom beat Polpharma Starogard in Friday's quarterfinals 92-81 behind 24 points from Slanina and 16 from Justin Hamilton. In the semis Prokom overcame Turow Zgorzelec 77-67 as Christian Dalmau scored 24 for Prokom and Hamilton added 13. Prokom came back from a first quarter double-digit deficit and limited Turow to just 9 points in the third quarter, which was the key. Meanwhile Anwil Wloclawek dumped Kager Gdynia 98-77 in the quarters and then topped Energia Czarni 81-72 to claim a spot in the final.
