French League, Game 21: February 17-18, 2007
Strasbourg provided the most eye-popping result in the French League this weekend by downing Nancy 56-85 on the road on Sunday. Chuck Eidson led the winners with 18 points, Aerick Sanders added 17 and 12 rebounds while Afik Nissim and Sacha Giffa each had 10 for Strasbourg. Cyril Julian had 11 points for Nancy while Branko Milisavljevic and Cedrick Banks each added 10 for the hosts, who led 36-32 at halftime. Giffa helped Strasbourg to lead 49-57 after 30 minutes and Nancy just collapsed in the final period. A 0-21 final run made Strasbourg get a big road win and improve to 13-8 in the standings. Pau-Orthez improved to 11-10 and joined a massive eight-way tie for the sixth place in the standings by thrashing Bourg 93-69 at home on Saturday. Michael Wright paced the winners with 18 points, C.C. Harrison added 14 while Britton Johnsen and Cedric Ferchaud each had 12 for Pau. Wright had 12 points in the opening 10 minutes to make Pau get a 31-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Bourg never recovered and Pau registered a much-needed win. Le Mans dropped to 11-10 due to a 86-78 road loss against Chalon on Saturday. Tracy Murray led the winners with 17 points. Sandro Nicevic had 22 points for Le Mans, Nebojsa Bogavac 17 and Kenny Gregory 13. Le Mans trailed all the way in the second half and even it got as close as 69-63 early in the final period, the guests never completed their comeback. In other games, Besancon beat Gravelines 97-91, Roanne edged Adecco Asvel 87-84, Hyeres-Toulon topped Orleans 74-81, Dijon bested Clermont 93-81, Le Havre defeated Cholet 90-92 while Paris downed Reims 88-76.
