British League, Week 21/22: February 14-18, 2007
Poujoulat Heat Guildford stays atop the British Championship standings with a 18-5 record by beating the Newcastle Eagles 95-86 at home on Saturday night. Brian Dux led the winners with 23 points while Mike Martin had 22 for the Heat, that trailed 65-67 after three quarters but managed to keep a safe lead in the final 3 minutes. It was a productive week for the Sheffield Sharks, as it got back-to-back road wins to improve to 18-6 in the standings. The Sharks beat the Plymouth Raiders 66-72 on Wednesday behind 16 points each from Jeff Bonds, Eddie Cage and Blake Shelton. The Sharks rounded a perfect week by edging the Scottish Rocks 76-77 on Sunday. In other games on Friday, the Raiders topped the Chester Jets 91-97 behind 26 points from Carlton Aaron while the Marshall MK Lions beat the Worcester Wolves 92-86 with 22 points from Tony Windless. On Saturday, London United needed overtime to edge the Chester Jets 106-99 as Tarik Johnson bagged 35 points while the Wolves downed the DMU Leicester Riders 84-79. On Sunday, the Eagles beat the Lions 104-93 while the Raiders beat London United 82-66.
