British League, Game 23/24: February 20-25, 2007
It was a big week for Poujoulat Heat Guildford, that got three straight wins to keep leading the British Championship standings with a 21-5 record. The Heat opened its week with a 88-82 home win against the Scottish Rocks on Tuesday. Brian Dux paced the winners with 24 points while Danny Gilbert added 23. The Heat got another win by downing the Chester Jets 76-62 at home on Friday. Both teams were tied at 52-52 after 30 minutes but the Heat used a 13-2 run to break the game open. Gilbert had 25 points while Rod Wellington added 15 for the winners. To round a perfect week, the Heat thrashed the Worcester Wolves 71-93 on the road on Saturday. Gilbert and Wellington each had 25 points to lead the winners while Mike Martin added 17 for the Heat. The Sheffield Sharks had a productive week and improved to 20-6 in the standings by getting back-to-back wins this week. The Sharks downed the Marshall MK lions 96-82 behind 36 points from Jeff Bonds and then added a 62-78 road win against the Chester Jets. In other games, the Newcastle Eagles beat the Plymouth Raiders 99-75 on Friday behind 17 points from TJ Walker. On Saturday, the Leicester Riders thrashed London United 107-70 while on Sunday, the Rocks beats the Eagles 91-86 while the MK Lions bested the Riders 92-79 behind 24 points from Robert Youngblood.
