French League, Game 23: March 3-4, 2007
Roanne keeps leading the French League standings with a 17-6 record by thrashing Hyeres-Toulon 104-83 behind 22 points from Dewarick Spencer and 20 from Marc Salyers. Nancy and Chalon stay second, each with a 16-7 record. Chalon rallied to beat Clermont 68-65 at home behind 21 points from John Best. Meanwhile, Nancy beat Bourg 76-60 at home on Saturday. Ricky Soliver had 12 points for Nancy while Cyril Julian and Maxime Zianveni each added 10 in an easy home win for Nancy, that led 36-23 at halftime and boosted its margin to 55-38 after 30 minutes, enough to seal the win. Strasbourg dropped to 14-9 due to a 69-50 road loss against Cholet. Nando De Colo led the winners with 18 points while Chuck Eidson had 12 for Strasbourg. Free throws by Eidson tied it at 48-48 with 9 minutes to go, but Strasbourg only managed to scored 2 points until the final buzzer, while Cholet used a 21-2 run to win the game. Le Mans improved to 13-10 by downing Le Havre 68-84 on the road on Saturday. Sandro Nicevic led Le Mans with 19 points, Eric Campbell posted a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, Nebojsa Bogavac had 12 points and Kenny Gregory 10 for the winners, that led 8-28 after 10 minutes. Le Havre never recovered and Le Mans added a big road win. Pau-Orthez improved to 13-10 by downing Adecco Asvel 95-81 at home on Sunday. C.C. Harrison led 6 Pau players in double digits with 19 points. Michael Wright added 17, Britton Johnsen 14, Ricardo Greer 13 while Melvin Sanders and Aaron Miles each had 12 pointa for Pau, that broke the game after the break. In other games, Dijon edged Gravelines 88-83, Besancon beat Reims 101-91 while Orleans topped Paris 66-76.
