Russian League, Game 21: Feb. 27 - Mar. 4, 2007
CSKA Moscow keeps leading the Russian League standings with a 16-2 record by downing Sibirtelekom 127-75 at home on Saturday. Oscar Torres led the winners with 27 points. Aleksey Savrasenko added 21, Anton Ponkrashov posted a double-double of 17 points and 14 assists, David Andersen had 16 points, Matjaz Smodis 14 and Trajan Langdon 10 for CSKA, that outrebounded its opponents by 45-20. Andersen, Ponkrashov and Zakhar Pashutin shined in the second period to make CSKA get a 65-33 margin at the break, enough to control the game until the final buzzer. Dynamo Moscow improved to 14-4 by downing University Surgut 86-63 at home on Sunday. Andrei Trushkin paced Dynamo with 17 points on 7-of-7 two-pointers. Lazaros Papadopoulos added 16, Sergei Bykov 13, Yuri Vasilyev 11 and Antonis Fotsis 10 for the winners. Dynamo trailed 24-25 early in the second quarter, but Sergey Monya and an outstanding Trushkin helped the hosts to get a 45-33 halftime margin. Surgut never recovered and Dynamo added another win. In other games, Ural Great registered back-to-back losses, 94-90 against Sibirtelekom in Novosibirsk and 74-79 against Dynamo Moscow Region in Perm. Lokomotiv Rostov thrashed Spartak Vgues 77-106 on Wednesday while Surgut beat Standart 72-82 on Thursday.
