Portuguese League, Game 28: February 27-28, 2007
Ovarense Aerosoles improved to 23-2 in the Portuguese League standings and kept a big advantage over everyone else by thrashing Barreirense 67-49 at home on Wednesday. Elvis Evora led the way for Ovarense with 14 points while Nuno Manarte added 12. Ovarense led 33-14 at halftime and did not find much trouble to add an easy home win. Benfica dropped to 18-7 due to a 84-81 road loss against Casino Figueira Ginasio on Tuesday. Ricky Woods led the winners with 26 points, Jesse Smith added 18 while Nick Neumann and Jose Costa each added 17 for Ginasio. Geno Carlisle led Benfica with 19 points. Costa followed a triple with a big basket in the final 3 minutes that allowed Ginasio to stay ahead for good. Carlisle missed a three-point attempt that would have forced overtime. In other games, Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor bested Lusitania Angra PM 87-73 at home behind 19 points from Jason Robinson while CAB Madeira topped Queluz Sintra PM72-83 with 18 points from Marko Antonijevic.
