British League, Week 25: Feb. 28 - Mar. 4, 2007
The Plymoutth Raiders are the British Trophy champions! The Raiders won the 2007 BBL Trophy Final by beating the Newcastle Eagles 65-74 at the MetroRadio Arena on Sunday. Carlton Aaron paced the winners and earned MVP honors with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Gaylon Moore added 17 while Tony Dorsey led the Eagles with 20 points. The Raiders led 35-40 at halftime and broke the game early in the third quarter to cruise to a well-deserved win.  Elsewhere in the British Championship, Poujoulat Heat Guildford stays atop the standings with a 22-5 record by edging London United 81-88 on Saturday behind 25 points from Daniel Gilbert. The Sheffield Sharks registered back-to-back wins this week and are right behind at 22-6. The Sharks edged the Scottish Rocks 77-75 on Tuesday with 25 points from Jeff Bonds. Eddie Cage and Blake Shelton allowed the Sharks to win its down the stretch. The Rocks added a 74-98 road win against the Worcester Wolves. Once again Bonds paced the winners with 42 points. In other games, the Chester Jets beat the Wolves 114-89 on Friday while the Eagles needed overtime to edge the Marshall MK Lions 79-77 with late free throws from Tony Dorsey. On Saturday, the Leicester Riders topped the Lions 104-90 behind 39 points from Terrence McGee.
