Greek League, Game 19: March 3-4, 2007
Mike Batiste - Panathinaikos Defending champion Panathinaikos coasted to a 68-58 win over PAOK to remain atop the Greek League with one more win than rival Olympiacos. A pair of unexpected players led the Reds as they defeated Makedonikos 88-60 on the road, while Aris dominated Olympiada Patras 82-65, maintaining a status quo in the standings. Nikos Barlos and Christos Harisis scored 20 and 18 points respectively to lead Olympiacos, while Aris got 15 each from Alex Scales and Terrel Castle for its win. In other games, AEK Athens escaped from Olympia Larissa with an important 72-80 win, while Panellinios and AEL did the same, beating Panionios 66-60 and Apollon Patras 79-78 on the road, respectively. In another dramatic game, Maroussi edged Egaleo 63-62.

At an empty OAKA Olympic Indoor Hall, Panathinaikos – playing without fans due to a recent penalty – was not at its best. Mike Batiste led the winners with 12 points, while Frangiskos Alvertis and Sani Becirovic added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Jason Parker and Lazaros Agadakos scored 13 points apiece for PAOK, while Drago Pasalic and Giannis Kalabokis added 10 each. Olympiacos outscored Makedonikos 26-13 in the first period and found no difficulties on the way to an easy 88-60 road win. Barlos and Harisis scored 20 and 18 points respectively to lead their team, while Alex Acker and Sofoklis Schortsanitis added 18 and 11 points respectively. Jeremy Montgomery posted 16 to lead Makedonikos. Aris took care of business, as the Yellows dominated Olympiada Patras 82-65 to keep a hold of third place in the standings with a less win than Olympiacos. Scales and Castle led the winners with 15 points apiece, while big men Jeremiah Massey and Mike Wilkinson contributed 12 points each and Giannis Giannoulis 8 points. Derick Dial had 15 for Olympiada Patras.

AEK downed Olympia Larissa 80-72 on the road, ending Olympia’s incredible 8-1 run in their last 9 games. Ante Grgurevic had 16 points and 15 rebounds in his debutt, while Giorgos Tsiaras scored 14 for the hosts, who were without injured American forward Matt Walsh. Mamadu N’ Diaye had 19 points and 14 rebounds and Anthony Goldwire added 13 to lead Panellinios to a huge road win over Panionios 66-60, which had 14 each from Stratos Perperoglou and Kennedy Winston. In Patra, AEL was the one that laughed at the end, as the team from Larissa scored a dramatic 79-78 win after an Arthur Lee basket at the buzzer. The point guard had 24 points, while Jimmy Oliver led the home team with 19. Oliver’s former team, Maroussi, fought hard against Egaleo and finally won by 63-62 through a three-pointer by Renaldas Seibutis at the buzzer. The Lithuanian scored 14 points, while Danya Abrams had 17 points, 13 boards and the assist to Seibutis at the end. Vassilis Soulis and Nikos Pettas led Egaleo with 13 and 11 points respectively.
