Belgian League, Game 27: March 9-10, 2007
Spirou Charleroi keeps leading the Belgian League standings with a 20-7 record and has a four-game advantage over everyone else by edging Okapi Aalstar 81-75 in the Spiroudome on Saturday night. Cyril Akpomedah led the winners with 19 points while Greg Grays had 18 for Charleroi, that trailed 57-59 after three quarters. Akpomedah had 5 points in a 10-0 run that put Charleroi ahead, 76-65, with 2 minutes to go, enough to seal the win. Telindus Oostende keeps tying for the second place at 16-11 by thrashing Verviers-Pepinster 87-66 at home also on Saturday. Veselin Petrovic and Rashad Wright led the winners each with 17 points. Titus Ivory had 14, Glen McGowan 13 and Eric Hicks 10 in an easy home win for Pepinster, that led 45-31 at halftime and never looked back. Dexia Mons-Hainaut improved to 15-12 by downing Sanex Antwerp 90-80 in overtime on Saturday. Kevin Houston led the way for Mons with 27 points. Jim Potter added 15 and George Evans 14. Ed Norvell had 18 points for Antwerp, that managed to force overtime at 68-68 with free throws by Gur Shelef. Potter had 13 points in the extra period to make Mons add another win. In other games, Euphony Bree needed overtime to edge Basket Gr Leuven 88-84 behind 22 points from Jeff Horner while Liege Basket topped Atomia Brussels 86-75 with 19 points from Scott Brakebill.
