Portuguese League, Game 30: March 10, 2007
Ovarense Aerosoles got its 11th consecutive win and keeps leading the Portuguese League standings with a 24-2 record by downing Casino Figueira Ginasio 73-82 in overtime on Sunday. Gregory Stempin led the winners with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Ben Reed added 14 while Ricky Woods Woods led Ginasio with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ovarense led most of the way in regulation but free throws by Woods forced overtime at 67-67. Back-to-back triple by Reed broke the game in the extra period and Ovarense added a big road win. Benfica stayed second at 19-8 despite a 77-68 road loss against Queluz Sintra PM. Earl Brown led the winners with 20 points, while Geno Carlisle had 18 points for Benfica, that went scoreless in the final 2 minutes, allowing Queluz to get a much-needed win. Porto Ferpinta improved to 15-11 by beating Lusitania Angra PM 77-69 behind 19 points and 9 rebounds from Nuno Marcal. Last but not least, Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor thrashed Barreirense 97-69 with 25 points from Cameron Echols and 23 from Paulo Simao.
