Lithuanian League, Game 13: March 9-11, 2007
JANKUNAS Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas keep tying atop the Lithuanian League standings, each with a 12-1 record. Zalgiris overcame an early deficit to beat Neptunas 80-67 in Kaunas on Sunday. Loren Woods led the winners with 15 points, Tanoka Beard added 14, Paulius Jankunas had 13 and Vaidotas Peciukas 10 for Zalgiris, that trailed 15-23 after 10 minutes. Zalgiris got within 37-38 at halftime and broke the game in the third quarter to get a 64-51 lead after three quarters, enough to add another win. Zalgiris had beaten Panevezys 80-91 on the road on Saturday. Jankunas led the way for Zalgiris with 25 points, Marcelinho Machado and Jonas Maciulis each added 16, Woods posted a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds while Marko Popovic had 11 points for the winners. Meanwhile, Rytas did not play this week, as it had a Baltic League game against ASK Riga scheduled this weekend, right before the start of the ULEB Cup semifinal series against FMP. In other games, Siauliai beat Atletas 97-75 on Friday but lost against Nevezis 90-66 on Saturday. Neptunas topped Sakalai 70-84 on the road on Saturday.
