German League, Game 24: March 10-11, 2007
Chris Owens Alba Berlin Alba Berlin showed its power and keeps tying atop the German League standings with a 19-5 record by thrashing the Giessen 46ers 79-54 at home on Saturday. Chris Owens led the winners with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Julius Jenkins had 16 points while Sharrod Ford added 11 for Alba, that overcame a slow start to get a 42-29 lead at halftime. The 46ers never recovered and Alba cruised to a well-deserved win. RheinEnergie improved to 17-7 and stayed third in the standings by topping Paderborn Baskets 67-78 on the road also on Saturday. Aleksandar Nadjfeji led the winners with 18 points, Demond Mallet had 16, Devin Green 12 and Immanuel McElroy 10 for RheinEnergie, that used outstanding defense to break the game. The current German League champions led 14-25 after 10 minutes and boosted their margin to 20-41 at halftime, enough to seal the outcome. Brose Baskets improved to 15-8 by beating Ratiopharm Ulm 79-67 at home. Casey Jacobsen led Brose Baskets with 21 points, Darren Fenn added 13 and Chris Ensminger 11 for the winners, who kept a safe lead in the second half. In other games, Bayer Giants Leverkusen downed the Artland Dragons 84-64, Eisbaren Bremerhaven bested BG Karlsruhe 63-75, Telekom Baskets Bonn thrashed Tubingen 80-48 while EWE Baskets Oldenburg overwhelmed Nurnberg 51-90. On Sunday, TBB Trier beat  Braunschweig 90-65 while EnBW Ludwigsburg thrashed the Deutsche Bank Skyliners 93-64.
