German League, Game 25: March 17-18, 2007
Casey Jacobsen Alba Berlin is the new exclusive leade atop the German League standings with a 20-5 record by downing Paderborn Baskets 56-75 on the road on Saturday. Jovo Stanojevic led the winners with 17 points, Chris Owens added 13 while Kirk Penney had 10 for Alba. Stanojevic had 8 points in 4 minutes to break the game, 27-38, at halftime. Alba kept full control of the game in the second half and did not have problems to add another road win. Brose baskets is now fourth at 17-8 by topping EWE Baskets Oldenburg 66-77 on the road also on Saturday. Casey Jacobsen had 25 points on 7-of-9 triples to lead Brose Baskets. Darren Fenn added 12 and Steffen Hamann 11 for the winners, that trailed 59-48 after 30 minutes. Brose Baskets only allowed 7 points in the final period, while an outstanding Jacobsen allowed the guests to get a big win in come-from-behind fashion. RheinEnergie improved to 18-7 by downing Sellbytel Baskets Nurnberg 85-70 in Cologne on Sunday. Demond Mallet had 18 points for the winners, Marcin Gortat added 14, Immanuel McElroy and Ronnie Burrell each tallied 11 while Johannes Herber chipped in 10 for RheinEnergie. Gortat and Burrell helped RheinEnergie to get a 48-36 halftime margin and Nurnberg failed to get back into the game. In other games, Ratiopharm Ulm upset EnBW Ludwigsburg 92-81, Tubingen bested Bayer Giants Leverkusen 84-75, the Artland Dragons edged BG Karlsruhe 75-74 in overtime, the Deutsche Bank Skyliners defeated Braunschweig 76-63, Eisbaren Bremerhaven downed the Giessen 46ers 88-75 while Telekom Baskets Bonn beat TBB Trier 64-67.
