Bulgarian Cup quarterfinals: March 12-16, 2007
Lukoil Academic qualified for the Bulgarian Cup semifinals by sweeping its best-of-three series against Cherno More IG. The defending champions followed a huge 91-68 home win with a 72-83 road result to book its place in next Wednesday's semifinals. Gegori Davidov led the way with 19 points in the first game and Donta Smith scored 19 in Game 2. Academic will face cross-town rival Levski in the semis after it eliminated Yambol 85-86 in a thrilling second match. In the other semifinal, CSKA, whih swept Rilski Sportist after two balanced games faces Spartak Pleven. CSKA topped Rilski 89-86 and 85-86 with Carlos Cherry and Dimitar Mirakovski stepping up. Pleven needed three games to overcome Balkan 88-87 on a buzzer-beater by Hrisimir Dimitrov.
