David Hawkins - Lottomatica Roma It was an intense week in the Italian League, in which Lottomatica Roma showed its power by edging Montepaschi Siena 84-82 in overtime at home on Sunday. David Hawkins led the winners with 25 points, Dejan Bodiroga added 18 but Jon Stefansson became the game-hero with the winning layup at the end of the extra period. Joseph Forte had 27 points for Montepaschi while Rimantas Kaukenas added 26. Climamio Bologna bounced back from recent losses by by downing Eldo Napoli 69-80 on the road on Sunday morning. Climamio improved to 11-12 while Napoli dropped to 12-11. Stefano Mancinelli led the winners with 19 points. Marco Belinelli added 18 while James Thomas posted a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds for Climamio. Benetton is now fourth at 14-9 by beating Siviglia Wear Teramo 90-83 in Treviso on Saturday behind 21 points from Preston Shumpert while Snaidero Cucine Udine fired in 16-of-26 triples to beat Air Avellino 105-84. In other games, Angelico Biella upset Armani Jeans Milano 79-59, Whirlpool Varese beat Bipop Carire Reggio Emilia 78-71, VidiVici Bologna bested TDShop.it Livorno 94-75, Tisettanta Cantu edged Upea Capo d'Orlando 63-67 while Legea Scafati thrashed Premiata Montegranaro 106-89.

Climamio Bologna showed its power by downing Eldo Napoli 69-80 on the road on Sunday morning. Climamio improved to 11-12 while Napoli dropped to 12-11. Mancinelli led the winners with 19 points. Belinelli added 18, Thomas posted a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds while Alain Digbeu had 11 points for Climamio. Mason Rocca led Napoli with 18 points, Tyrone Ellis added 14 and Ansu Sesay 11. Climamio found a go-to guy in Belinelli in the early going, as the guests hit their opening 10 shots - six of them from downtown - to get a 20-26 edge after 10 minutes. Napoli got within 27-28, but Bellinelli and Mancinelli allowed Climamio to get a 32-42 margin at halftime. Climamio boosted its margin to 39-53, and even when Napoli got within 50-59 after 30 minutes, the guests kept full control of the game until the final buzzer. Benetton is now fourth at 14-9 by beating Siviglia Wear Teramo 90-83 in Treviso on Saturday. Shumpert paced the winners with 21 points. Nikos Zisis added 16, Angelo Gigli and Spencer Nelson each had 13, Marco Mordente 11 and Matteo Soragna 10 for Benetton, that trailed 18-30 after 10 minutes. Nelson and an outstanding Mordente led the Benetton comeback, as Gigli dunked it for a 45-42 halftime lead. Teramo did not give up, however, as it stayed within 75-72 midway through the final period. Gigli, Zisis and Shumper helped Benetton to seal the win down the stretch.

Lottomatica Roma improved to 13-9 by edging Montepaschi Siena 84-82 in overtime at home on Sunday on a game-winning basket by Jon Stefansson. Hawkins led the winners with 25 points, Bodiroga added 18 while Ognjen Askrabic and Erazem Lorbek each had 12 for Roma. Joseph Forte had 27 points for Montepaschi, Kaukenas 26 and McIntyre 12. It was an intense game that saw as many as 18 lead changed before a free throw by Ben Eze tied it at 70-70. Kaukenas and Mire Chatman traded triples, while Forte and Hawkins did not miss from the foul line for a 75-75 tie. Roma opted to foul on Lonny Baxter, who missed crucial free throws, allowing the game to go to overtime. Kaukenas dunked it for a 77-79 Montepaschi lead with 3 minutes to go, but Hawkins followed a layup with a dunk-and-foul for a 82-79 Roma lead. McIntyre and Baxter made free throws for a 82-82 tie but Stefansson became the game hero with a game-winning layup. Snaidero Udine improve to 10-13 by thrashing Air Avellino 105-84 at home on Sunday. Christian Di Giuliomaria and Silvio Gigena led the winners each with 19 points. Mike Penberthy added 17, Kristaps Valters had 16, Jacob Jaacks 13 and Damon Williams 11. Gigena went on fire midway through the second quarter to make Snaidero get a 54-44 halftime margin. Three-pointers allowed Snaidero to keep a safe lead throughout the third quarter, while a 11-0 run that Valters capped with another one from downtown sealed the outcome, 96-75, with 4 minutes to go.
