Portuguese League, Game 32: March 17-18, 2007
Queluz Sintra PM provided the most shocking result in the Portuguese League this weekend by downing Ovarense Aerosoles 86-74 at home on Saturday. Queluz improved to 12-17 while Ovarense dropped to 25-3 and saw its 11-game winning streak come to an end. Jamie Kendrick led the winners with 16 points while Earl Brown added 15. Ben Reed had 17 points for Ovarense, that trailed 62-49 after 30 minutes and never recovered. CAB Madeira improved to 11-17 by edging might Benfica 73-70 at home also on Saturday. Filipe da Silva paced CAB with 18 points while B.J. Puckett added 16. Ashante Johnson had 20 points for Benfica, that overcame a double-digit margin in the last 4 minutes to get within 72-70 with 24 seconds to go. Da Silva hit 1 of 2 free throws while Johnson missed a three-point shot that would have taken the game to overtime. Porto Ferpinta improved to 15-12 by beating Barreirense 83-66 at home. Paulo Cunha had 18 points and John Whorton added 16 in an easy home win for Porto. Last but not least, Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor rallied from a 12-point deficit in the final 9 minutes to beat Casino Figueira Ginasio 93-82 behind 28 points from Jason Robinson.
