Israeli League, Regular Season, Game 3: November 11, 2007
The third week in the Israeli League will be remembered for an incident that took place outside the lines of the basketball court. The interesting game between Hapoel Jerusalem and Hapoel Holon was stopped with 1:24 minutes to go after an explosive device was thrown on court and injured one of the security agents. Israeli League officials will hold a special meeting Monday to decide on the measures taken. In the meantime, Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv's scheduled game Monday against Ironi Ramat Gan will not take place. In the day's earlier games, Maccabi Rishon earned its first win of the season at Hapoel Galil Elyon's expense 89-94, Bnei Hasharon beat Gilboa/Afula on the road 72-83 and Ironi Nahariya easily beat Ironi Ashkelon 102-76.

The newcomer from Holon built one of the most impressive and deepest rosters for the upcoming season and wanted to challenge Jerusalem's status as the main rival to perennial champion Maccabi. The game marked the debut of former Euroleague superstar Tanoka Beard, who signed for the club over the weekend and landed in Israel Sunday morning. The game developed to be a high-level one and saw Jerusalem trail for three quarters before taking over the game, but with 1:24 to play and the hosts up 94-89 the game changed its face. The device landed right next to Holon's bench. One of the security people rushed to pick it up, and the device exploded in his hand. According to reports, he lost three of his fingers and was rushed to hospital.

Galil Elyon is still looking for their first win this season. After losing the first two league games and its ULEB Cup debut, Galil lost 84-94 at home to Maccabi Rishon Lezion, who arrived to the game looking for its first win as well. The locals took a 27-24 lead after 10 minutes and jumped to a double-digit lead early in the second quarter before Rishon took over. Rishon held a 47-51 lead at halftime. Halfway through the third, Rishon climbed to a 13-point lead, and kept the margin until the end of the period, 65-76. The locals didn't really manage to challenge Rishon, who kept the safe margin throughout the last quarter and marched back home with their debut win in the new season. League-leading scorer Juan Mendez led Rishon with 28 points. Gili Mosinson had 18 for Galil, Clif Brown and Mike Campbell added 16 each and Yogev Ohayon scored 13 and passed six assists for the losing side.
