Terrell McIntyre Montepaschi Another week, another win for Montepaschi Siena, which remained atop the Italian League standings by beating Air Avellino 83-77 at home on Saturday. Terrell McIntyre led the winners with 27 points and 8 steals, while Rimantas Kaukenas added 24 points for Montepaschi. Upim Bologna also stayed unbeaten and improved to 2-0 by topping Premiata Montegranaro 75-79 on the road on Saturday. Horace Jenkins led Fortitudo with 27 points and Stefano Mancinelli added 24. Italian League newcomers Solsonica Rieti and Scavolini Spar Pesaro showed their power by downing Armani Jeans Milano and Benetton Treviso, respectively. Angelico Biella provided the most shocking result by beating La Fortezza Bologna 81-92, while Lottomatica Roma dropped to 1-1 due to a 83-69 road loss at Siviglia Wear Teramo. In other games, Snaidero Udine thrashed Cimberio Varese 62-83, Tisettanta Cantu bested Legea Scafati 70-60 and Pierrel Capo d'Orlando topped Eldo Napoli on the road 62-75.

Avellino managed to tie the game at 69-69, but Kaukenas, McIntyre and Shaun Stonerook stepped up for Montepaschi to give the defending Italian League champion its second win. Upim Bologna survived a tough test by topping Premiata Montegranaro 75-79 on the road on Saturday. Jenkins led Fortitudo with 27 points and Mancinelli added 24. Jenkins followed a critical three-pointer with a layup to give Upim a 69-74 edge and free throws by Oscar Torres, Mancinelli and Dante Calabria sealed the outcome down the stretch. Lottomatica Roma dropped to 1-1 due to a 83-69 road loss at Siviglia Wear Teramo. Clay Tucker paced the winners with 19 points. Gregor Fucka had 15 points for Roma, Roko Ukic and Christian Drejer each added 12, while Jon Stefansson got 10 for the guests, who trailed 48-34 at halftime and never recovered.

Armani Jeans dropped to 1-1 due to a 92-79 road loss against Solsonica Rieti. Pape Sow paced the winners with 23 points, while Morris Finley added 21 for Rieti. Dusan Vukcevic and Reece Gaines each had 13 points for Milano, Danilo Gallinari and Ansu Sesay added 12 apiece and Cheyne Gadson 11. Milano trailed for the best part of the game, but got within 72-66 early in the fourth quarter. Rieti boosted its margin to 84-71 and never looked back. Benetton Treviso did not start well the 2007-08 Italian League, as it suffered an 85-69 road loss at Scavolini Spar Pesaro. Pervis Pasco led the way for Scavolini with 22 points. Nana Mensah-Bonsu had 20 points for Benetton, Lionel Chalmers 14 and Mario Austin 10. Benetton trailed all the way, as Scavolini led 71-54 after 30 minutes and sealed the outcome long before the final buzzer. La Fortezza Bologna dropped to 1-1 due to a 81-92 home loss against Angelico Biella. Troy Bell led Biella with 22 points. Guilherme Giovannoni had 18 points for Virtus, Alan Anderson 13 and Dee Spencer 11. Bell had 17 points in the first half while B.J. Elder added 16 to make Biella get a mammoth 38-60 halftime margin, enough to control the game in the second half.
