Defending champion and regular season winner Ovarense Aerosoles edged Barreirense 81-80 on a Graham Brown basket with 10 seconds remaining. Barreirense had one last shot, but Chris Alexander’s last second three missed. John Waller led six Ovarense scorers in double figures with 15 points. Brown added 13 and Rui Mota, Nuno Manarte and Andre Pinto scored 12 points apiece. Deforrest Riley-Smith led Barreirense with 24. In the other series openers, Casino Figueira Ginasio crushed CAB Madeira 79-57 behind Brandon Voorhees’s 18 points, FC Porto beat Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor 77-74 as Nuno Marcal scored 20 and Vagos Lusavouga Dewalt beat Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial 81-71 as Ricardo Hill peppered the nets with 27.
