Swiss League, Regular Season, Game 12: January 5, 2008
Olympic Fribourg downed BBC Monthey 75-65 to remain atop the Swiss League table with an 11-1 record, though the Birstal Starwings (10-2) and Lugano Tigers (9-3) remain hot on their tails. Birstal beat Vevey Riviera on the road 75-91, while Lugano topped Boncourt at home 98-84. A perfect shooting performance from Harold Mrazek for 20 points led Fribourg. Jared McCurry scored 28 points and Birstal Starwings made a 12-22 run in the last quarter to beat Vevey, while Lugano got 18 points apiece from Derek Stockalper and Duane Erwin for its win. Their efforts cancelled out the 35 points scored by Stephen Sir for Boncourt. In other games, Nyon, under new coach Mario De Sisti, took a crucial away win over Geneva Devils 85-87, Lausanne edged Vacallo 64-59 as the trio of Tony Brown, Alvaro Calvo and Sean Walker collected 51 points, and Sion Herens downed Meyrin Grand Sacconex 86-68.
