Alba Berlin stayed as the German League leader with a 9-2 record by edging New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig 64-63 at home on Saturday. Immanuel McElroy led the winners with 13 points while Ansu Sesay and Aleksandar Nadjfeji each had 12 for Alba, whichled 51-33 after 26 minutes. Braunschweig rallied in the final 14 minutes and a three-point play by Andrew Drevo gave the guests a 62-63 edge with 17 seconds remaining. Adam Chubb sank free throws with 2 seconds to go to win it for Alba. Artland Dragons survived a tough test by beating Brose Baskets 77-69 in Quakenbruck on Saturday. Artland improved to 8-5 while Brose dropped to 6-6. Darren Fenn paced the winners with 20 points. Lamont McIntosh added 16 while Adam Hess had 14 for Artland. Predrag Suput had 17 points for Brose, Robert Garrett added 12 while Alexander Johnson got 10 for the guests, that led 63-64 midway through the fourth quarter. Dirk Madrich and Hess struck from downtown in a 10-0 run to make Artland seal the outcome, 73-64, in the final 2 minutes. In other games, EnBW Ludwigsburg edged Eisbaren Bremerhaven 56-62, ratiopharm Ulm topped BG 74 Gottingen 76-69, LTi Giessen 46ers defeated TBB Trier 63-53, Deutsche Bank Skyliners thrashed Walter Tigers Tubingen 82-65, Telekom Baskets Bonn beat Giants Nordlingen 61-54, Paderborn Baskets needed double overtime to down Koln 99ers 93-98 while EWE Baskets Oldenburg bested Giants Dusseldorf 84-73.
