German Cup Final Four: Feb. 28 - Mar. 1, 2009
Alba Berlin is the German Cup champion! Alba lifted its sixth German Cup trophy - its first since 2006 - by downing Telekom Baskets Bonn 44-69 in the title game in Hamburg, Germany on Sunday. Julius Jenkins paced the winners and earned final four MVP honors with 25 points on 4-for-5 three-pointers. Immanuel McElroy added 10 for Alba. Ken Johnson led Telekom with 13 points while E.J. Rowland added 10. Adam Chubb was the only Alba player to score in the opening 5 minutes. Meanwhile, Rowland and a three-pointer by Winsome Frazier gave Telekom an 8-4 edge. A put-back layup by McElroy and free throws by Jenkins tied it at 10-10 but Frazier restored a 12-10 Telekom edge after 10 minutes. Johannes Strasser buried a triple early in the second quarter but Dragan Dojcin and Chubb fueled a 0-7 run that put Alba ahead, 15-17. Jenkins stepped up with 7 unanswered points that gave Alba the lead for good, 17-24. An unstoppable Jenkins got some help from Rashad Wright to boost Alba's margin to 22-34 at halftime. Aleksandar Nadjfeji followed a layup with a three-pointer to break the game open, 25-39, after the intermission. Telekom kept struggling to score and only managed to trade baskets for a while. A three-pointer by McElroy allowed Alba to keep a double-digit lead, 35-45, after 30 minutes. Back-to-back triples by Jenkins sealed the outcome, 39-51, with under 7 minutes to go. Telekom did not recover and all Alba fans in the stands had plenty of time to celebrate that their team was once again the German Cup champion!

Brandon Bowman added 16, Moussa Diagne had 12 while Rowland got 11 for Telekom. Marc Antonio Carter had 14 points to lead Dusseldorf, that trailed 32-31 at halftime.
