British League, Regular Season, Game 27: March 24-29, 2009

The Newcastle Eagles lead the British Championship standings with a 23-4 record. The Everton Tigers are right behind at 19-6 while the Guildford Heat ranks third at 17-10. The Eagles took the big showdown in the British Championship this weekend by topping the Tigers 79-90 in Liverpool on Sunday. Reggie Jackson led the winners with 21 points. Trey Moore added 16 while Darius Defoe and Charles Smith each added 14 for Newcastle. Andre Smith had 32 points for Everton. The Eagles had previously downed the Cheshire Jets 93-76 with 17 points from Smith. The Heat topped the Scottish Rocks 66-74 on the road on Sunday behind 21 points from EJ Harrison. London Capital registered its second win by edging the Worcester Wolves 84-82 at home on Saturday. Ibrahim Gariba and Marcus Knight led the winners each with 19 points. London had registered a 90-65 road loss against the Marshall MK Lions. Jayson Obazuaye led the Lions with 28 points. In other games, the Sheffield Sharks thrashed the Plymouth Raiders 96-73, the Leicester Riders beat the Worthing Thunder 83-64 while the Cheshire Jets edged the Lions 92-83 behind 20 points from Shawn Myers.
