Lithuanian League finals, Game 1: May 6, 2009

Eurocup and Baltic League champion Lietuvos Rytas took a big step towards adding the Lithuanian League crown to its collection by downing rival Zalgiris Kaunas in Game 1 of the Lithuanian playoff finals. L. Rytas won 84-94 in Kaunas to steal away home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series. A pair of Paulius Jankunas free throws gave Zalgiris a 45-43 lead late in the second quarter, but L. Rytas finished the half with 6 straight points and used a Chuck Eidson-led 2-15 surge early in the third quarter to pulla way for good en route to the win. Eidson scored 8 during that run and finished the game with 30 points and 6 assists for the winners. Marijonas Petravicius added 15 points, Arturas Jomantas had 14 and Mindaugas Lukauskis 10 for L. Rytas. Jankunas paced Zalgiris with 20 points, Dainius Salenga scored 19, Jonas Maciulis 14 and Mantas Kalnietis 12. Meanwhile Siaulai needed overtime to beat Neptunas 101-93 in Game 1 of the third-place series. Andrius Slezas led Siaulai with 23 points.
