Russian Cup Quarterfinals, second leg: November 18-22, 2008
CSKA Moscow, Unics Kazan, Dynamo Moscow and Triumph Lyubertsy advanced to the Russian Cup final four by surviving their respective two-way quarterfinal series. CSKA was the first team to make it to the final four by edging SibirTelekom 69-79 on the road on Tuesday. Terence Morris and Trajan Langdon led the winners each with 15 points while Erazem Lorbek added 14 for CSKA, that had already got a 65-point lead from the first leg in Moscow. Dynamo also swept its quarterfinal series by downing Lokomotiv Rostov 80-70 at home on Saturday. Bostjan Nachbar paced the winners with 23 points. Travis Hansen added 13, Darjus Lavrinovic got 12 while Jannero Prago had 10 in an easy win for Dynamo, that led 65-50 after 30 minutes and never looked back. Unics confirmed its good moment by thrashing Ural Great 73-95 in Perm also on Saturday. Terrell Lyday and Tariq Kirksay led had 18 points for Unics. Kresimir Loncar added 13, Sergei Chikalkin got 11 while Igot Zamanskiy contributed 10 for Unics, that led 35-56 at halftime and stayed focused in the second half. Triumph edged Khimki 76-78 to sweep the series. J.R. Bremer led Triumph with 27 points on 6-for-9 three-pointers. Maciej Lampe had 15 points for Khimki, Vitaloy Fridzon added 13, Milt Palacio and Carlos Delfino each contributed 12 while Jorge Garbajosa got 10 for the hosts. that needed an eight-point lead to advance.
