Croatian Cup Final Four, Final, February 19, 2010
KK Zagreb is the Croatian Cup champ again! In the third consecutive year featuring the derby between Cibona and KK Zagreb in the final game, KK Zagreb managed to renew its crown thanks to a 81-74 win on Friday evening in the city of both teams, Zagreb. It is the second cup title for the Yellow team. Luka Zoric led the champs with 24 points and Damir Mulaomerovic contributed 20. Bojan Bogdanovic and Jamont Gordon led Cibona with 17 points apiece, while Marko Tomas added 16 and Luksa Andric had 12. The game started balanced with 8-8, but Mulaomerovic hit a three for Zagreb to put an end to the first quarter, 24-21. However, a 2-11 run by Cibona in the second quarter, allowed them to reach the halftime break leading by 36-40 with Tomas as the protagonist at this point. Zagreb reacted after the break but two straight threes by Gordon still allowed Cibona to hold a one-point lead after 30 minutes, 55-56. The fisrt six minutes of the last period stayed balanced but Mulaomerovic always scored in key points as he made it 67-63 when the end of the game approached. With one minute to go in the game, Zagreb dominated by 76-72 but two Dalibor Bagaric free throws made it 76-74. A Mulaomerovic new basket allowed Zagreb to re-gain the four-point lead, and when Gordon missed a three on the other side, Cibona fouled allowing a new KK Zagreb free throw to fall in, 79-74. In subsequent plays, both Gordon and Bogdanovic missed three-pointers allowing KK Zagreb to emerge victorious.
