Oldenburg lifted its first domestic trophy in the 2009-10 season by downing Telekom Baskets Bonn 69-53 on Saturday. Jason Gardner led the winners with 16 points. Josh Carter added 12 while Ruben Boumtje Boumtje pulled down 9 rebounds for Oldenburg. Bryce Taylor had 19 points for Bonn while Chris Ensminer added 11. Bonn opened the game with a 2-7 lead and Taylor helped his team to keep the same margin, 10-15, after 10 minutes. A three-pointer by Carter gave Oldenburg its first lead, 21-20, and the hosts boosted their margin to 28-24 at halftime. Rickey Paulding, the 2008-09 German League MVP, stepped up in the third quarter to keep Oldenburg ahead, 43-40, after 30 minutes. A technical foul on John Bowler allowed Milan Majstorovic to break the game open, 54-44. By the time head coach Michael Koch also picked up a technical foul, Bonn trailed 61-47 and did not recover, allowing all Oldenburg fans to celebrate a big win.
