Greek League, Regular Season, Game 3: November 7-8, 2009
Olympiacos and Panathinaikos remain atop the Greek League standings with 3-0 records after winning over the weekend. They are the only undefeated teams through three weeks of action. Defending champions Panathinaikos downed Aris on the road 62-70 as Dimitris Diamantidis and Nikola Pekovic delivered 14 points apiece. The Reds had an easy afternoon at Kavala, where they thrashed the local team 60-96 behind 20 points from Milos Teodosic. Maroussi Costa Cofee edged PAOK 78-74 in overtime. The score was tied at 66-66 after 40 minutes before Billy Keys scored a big three with 14 seconds to go to lift his team to victory. In other games, Panellinios led by Manolis Papamakarios with 21 points, including 6 for 9 from behind the arc, topped Ilissiakos 90-58; Kolossos Rhodes downed Panionios 78-68, Peristeri beat AEK on the road 79-88 and GS Larissa handed Trikala its first loss, 70-68.
Defending champions Panathinaikos downed Aris on the road 62-70 as Dimitris Diamantidis and Nikola Pekovic delivered 14 points apiece. Vassilis Spanoulis and Drew Nicholas recorded 12 points each and Stratos Perperoglou added 11 points. For the hosts, newcomer Juan Dixon netted 12 points and Keydren Clark had 9.
Olympiacos had an easy afternoon at Kavala, where they thrashed the local team 60-96 behind 20 points from Milos Teodosic. Linas Kleiza scored 11 points and Nikola Vujcic added 10 points. Von Wafer missed the game to travel to the USA to attend his grandfather’s funeral. Giedrius Gustas led the hosts with 17 points.
At Aghios Thomas, Maroussi Costa Cofee edged PAOK 78-74 in overtime. The score was tied at 66-66 after 40 minutes before Billy Keys scored a big three with 14 seconds to go to lift his team to victory. Dimitris Mavroeidis bagged 17 points for the winners, Billy Keys had 16 points, Kostas Kaimakoglou scored 14 and Jared Homan recorded a double-double of 10 points and 12 boards. Kenny Gregory paced the visitors with 25 points, while Predrag Drobnjak and Chris Monroe had 16 points apiece.
