Pooh Jeter - Hapoel Jerusalem (hapoel.co.il)Hapoel Jerusalem started the 19th round of Israeli League action with a thrilling 99-102 road win at Ironi Afula as Pooh Jeter shined with 39 points and a buzzer-beating triple for the win. League-leading Maccabi had the weekend off as its game against Ironi Ashkelon was postponed for two weeks to allow the champs some rest before the upcoming games in the Euroleague quarterfinals. Jeter was unstoppable in Afula in a game that also featured huge performances also from Afula's guards. Jeter finished the game not only with 39 points, but hit all his 4 shots from inside the arc and the charity stripe and topped it with 9 made three-pointers in 10 attempts, including the game winning shot, to reach an index rating of 48. On Sunday, Barak Netanya edged Gilboa/Galil 75-74 on a JR Pinnock jumper with 1.5 seconds left. Netanya and Gilboa are now tied for fourth place in the league with 12-7 records. Pinnock finished with 26 points for the winners. Maccabi Haifa scored a 76-92 road win over Ironi Ramat Gan as Davon Jefferson scored 29. Rishon Lezion topped Ironi Nahariya 60-67 led by 20 points from former Nahariya player Aaron McGhee. And Bnei Hasharon took an 87-83 overtime win over Hapoel Holon in a game where PJ Tucker met his former team with whom he won the Israeli League title in 2008. Tucker showed no mercy on Holon and scored 16 points. Sam Clancy was the top scorer of Bnei Hasharon with 20 and 9 rebounds.

Dijon Thompson added 21 points on 8-of-11 from the field. Dionte Christmas led Afula with 32 points on 7-of-9 three point shooting, while Justin Dentmon added 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Afula enjoyed the better start and led 17-6 lead after five minutes. Jeter scored twice from downtown to lead a Hapoel charge of 17 unanswered points to surge ahead 23-30. Dentmon kept the hosts within 43-47 at the break. Christmas stepped up in the second half to keep Afula not far behind. Thompson scored and dished a big assist to Brandon Hunter to make it an 11-point game with three minutes to play, but Afula did not give up. Christmas took over and scored at will and with 32 seconds to play he went to the line to shoot three and bring his side within 3 behind. The tied the score at 97-97. Jeter then hit two from the foul line, but saw Christmas tie the score and also travel to the free throw line. This time the free throw slipped out and Hapoel had the last ball. Jeter dribbled down the clock and just before the seconds ran out drilled his ninth three-point shot of the night, this time to seal the game and one of the best shooting performances the Israeli League has seen in a long time.
