Israeli League, Regular Season, Game 21: April 13-15, 2010
The center stage of Gameday 21 in the Israeli League featured the super-classico with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv stopping Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem 87-94 in the capital. Alan Anderson led a 3-16 run midway through the fourth quarter that decided the game and Hapoel’s late comeback run only got the hosts within 5. Guy Pniny scored 23 points – including 12 in the first quarter – to lead Maccabi over his former team. The defending champs improved to 20-1 with just one game remaining in the regular season. Anderson finished with 17 points – 13 of them in the closing seven minutes. D'or Fischer posted 16 points and 10 rebounds, David Bluthenthal added 12 points and Doron Perkins had 11 points and 7 assists. Pooh Jeter paced Hapoel with 18 points, Leo Lyons added 17 and Dijon Thompson and Brandon Hunter had 11 each. In other games, Ironi Ashkelon shocked Maccabi Haifa with a 73-71 victory following a winning basket by Omar Sneed, who finished with 19 points. Hapoel Afula used 2 Steffon Bradford free throws to beat Maccabi Rishon Lezion 79-77. Justin Dentman scored 26 points and Dionte Christmas added 23 for the winners. Ironi Ramat Gan shocked Gilboa/Galil on a buzzer-beater by Brandon Ewing for 76-73 victory. Chris Watson led the winners with 18 points. Ironi Nahariya beat Hapoel Holon 78-72 to stay alive in the fight for the playoffs. And Barak Netanya outlasted Bnei Hasharon 91-90 after two overtimes. Marco Killingsworth had 27 points and 11 rebounds for Barak.
